Our Story

Here at La Luna farms, the welfare of our birds is our first priority. It                                                     all started with a trip to our local feed store where Luna, along with                                                     a few other birds were purchased. From there, 5 birds turned into 13                                                     and, well you know how it goes, the rest is history. Not only did we                                                       find solace in sitting outside with a cup of coffee to enjoy the                                                               happy clucks, we started reading about how raising your own eggs                                                     and meat has drastic benefits for your body and well being.

Luna was apart of our family, she use to  come inside and jump up on the couch for cuddles. However, just after she turned a year old we noticed a change in her behavior. A wobble in her step, less eating, a quit trip to the vet confirmed our worst fear; the dreaded Mareks disease. Our vet seemed to believe she was skipped in her vaccination, as she came from a large hatchery where she was only a number, not a beloved chick.

After Lunas passing, we fantasized about starting a hatchery where chicks are treated with respect, where nobody is skipped, discarded, or ignored. A few years later here we are, with enough quality birds to start spreading the joy.
